Cardiovascular and respiratory diseases are now two of the most common health risks globally, and the average age for cases are gradually reducing. We view this trend seriously, and demonstrate our commitment in the setting up of our Cardiology department.

The department has a mission to ensure that the best possible care is given to patients, as well as to engage the public in preventative measures against these diseases. It offers screening, primary prevention, conservative, invasive, surgical treatment and rehabilitation with secondary prevention for patients with heart and lung diseases.

The Cardiology department offers:

• Non-Invasive & Invasive Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services

• Medical and Surgical treatment for Congenital and Adult Cardiothoracic and Vascular Diseases, Oncological and Functional Disorders including Post-Treatment Support

• State of the art facilities, including a dedicated non-invasive cardiac department, a respiratory laboratory and two invasive cardiac catheterization & vascular interventional suites, as well as one 64-slice CT, I.5 Tesla MRI, and a PET Scanner

• Dedicated operating rooms and a fully equipped Coronary Critical Care Unit to cater for patients undergoing heart and lung surgery

• Centre for Less Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery which is the first of its kind offering VAT Sympathectomy, a minimally invasive surgery for wet hands and minimally invasive Off Pump CABG

• Respiratory Clinic providing Bronchoscopic and Pleural Diagnostic and Interventional procedures, Respiratory Function Test, Bronchial Provocation Test, Exercise Test, Pre-flight assessment, Sleep assessment and Domiciliary Oxygen Service

• Multidisciplinary management of Asthma and Allergy, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Respiratory rehabilitation and Lung Cancer

• Preferential service by way of safe repatriation back to Prince Court Medical Centre for further treatment should they fall sick while abroad

• Dedicated interventional and non-interventional cardiologists and skilled surgeons to perform the entire spectrum of heart and thoracic surgery.

• A 24-hour primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) service for patients with acute heart attacks.

• A Lifestyle Modification Centre, which provides cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, continuous medical evaluation, emotional counseling, dietary advice and lifestyle modification activities for risk prevention will be part of our strategies to cater for a healthy life

The Cardiology department will soon also accommodate an Electrophysiology Laboratory as well as Robotic-Assisted Cardiothoracic Surgery capabilities.
