Radiology & Nuclear Medicine
Radiology is the science of using radiation or other imaging technologies to produce images of the skeletal, arterial and soft tissue areas of the body to diagnose and treat disease or injury.
Our Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine provides the full range of multi-modality diagnostic and interventional radiology imaging services for inpatients and outpatients. The department supports other departments, taking care of the imaging needs of patients referred to us by our doctors, as well as doctors from other medical facilities both local and global.
Our imaging modalities and equipment are for the purpose of providing useful and potentially vital information about the internal condition of the body. The following are some examples of the cutting-edge technology that we employ.
Diagnostic radiology and fluoroscopy utilise x-rays to produce images of the body or various organs for medical diagnostic purposes. These include:
General Radiography
CR – Computerised Radiography
CR – Digital Radiography
(CR)Computed Radiography and (DR) Digital Radiography
Digital Fluoroscopy
Barium & GastroIntestinal Studies
Venogram
HSG ( Hysterosalpingography )
Fluoroscopy Guided Intervention
Hepato-Biliary Studies
Bronchogram
Ductal Studies
Arthrogram
Urinary System studies
Ultrasound employs high-frequency sound waves to create images of body parts and organs without utilising ionising radiation. This includes:
High End Fully Digital Ultrasound with multiple transducers provides full range of B- Mode grayscale and Doppler diagnostic studies.
Ultrasound Guided Biopsy and Intervention.
MRI uses a magnetic field and radio waves to excite body tissues to send out tiny radio signals. Each type of tissue may send out a different signal. The computer system can generate from these signals a detailed picture of the area of interest.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
1.5 Tesla short bore high-performance MRI system for Neurology (Head and Spine), Musculoskeletal and Body imaging
MR Angiography
Breast MRI with Dynamic tissue evaluation and Implants imaging
MRI Spectroscopy
MRI Prostate with Endo rectal coil
Whole body MRI imaging
Computerised Tomography (CT Scan)
CT of the head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, extremities and spine examinations
Coronary calcium CT
Coronary CTA
CT Angiography of selected regions (e.g. CTA Pulmonary)
Low dose lung CT
Virtual colonoscopy CT
Dental CT
CT Urography
CT guided Biopsy
Radio Frequency Ablation(RFA) for tumour under CT
Women's Imaging
Full Field Digital Mammography
Breast Ultrasound
Breast MRI
Bone Densitometry (DEXA)
Breast biopsy: Ultrasound or Stereotactic guided
Nuclear Medicine is a specialised area of diagnostic radiology that uses very small amounts of radioactive materials to create an image of the body especially its function (as opposed to structure) for diagnostic purposes. This includes:
Pet-CT
Whole Body Pet CT for cancer screening and staging
Gamma Camera
Whole Body Bone Scan/SPECT and three-phase studies
Myocardial Perfusion Scan/SPECT and Viability studies
Thyroid, Parathyroid and Iodine Whole Body scans
Renal and hepatobiliary studies
Lung Ventilation and Perfusion scans
Gastrointestinal studies
Sentinel Node Scintigraphy
Interventional Radiology uses various imaging techniques to guide the insertion of small instruments and tools through the blood vessels or body surfaces to identify and treat a medical disorder without requiring conventional surgery. This typically results in better patient comfort and shorter recovery time.
Vascular and General interventional procedures.
What makes us different? Using among the latest imaging technology, we are able to provide in-depth and accurate diagnosis. A fully digital Radiology Information System with Picture Archiving and Communication (RIS and PACS) means that your imaging study will be stored and can be accessed by your doctor. You have the flexibility of requesting for printed images, having images burned onto CD or to simply leave your data with us for safekeeping.
