A transformative cleft journey at Prince Court

A transformative cleft journey at Prince Court

When Rini was four months pregnant, a scan confirmed that her child would be born with a cleft lip and cleft palate.

Saddened by the news, Rini found strength in her husband and the comprehensive care at Prince Court Medical Centre where her son Adam would go through a transformative journey.

Under the guidance of Dr. Seri Suniza Sufian, Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist as well as the support of a paediatrician and plastic & reconstructive surgeon, Rini and Adam had all the support they needed.

Adam was born at Prince Court, and at two and a half months old, he underwent his first surgery, which went smoothly without complications. Though Rini felt overwhelmed, she found comfort by her immensely supportive husband.

Their journey at Prince Court continued, marked by several stages of operations, and currently, Adam is under the care of Datin Dr. Mumtaj Nisah Abd Rahim, Consultant Orthodontist, following a bone graft procedure.

Looking ahead, Adam will require comprehensive orthodontics and assessment for orthognathic surgery as part of the continuous treatment care plan outlined by the doctors at Prince Court until his adulthood.

Reflecting on their challenging experience, Rini expresses gratitude for the unwavering support they received. She emphasises that with today’s medical advancements, children born with cleft conditions can lead normal and meaningful lives.

Adam’s story stands as a testament to hope, resilience, and the transformative journey cleft patients can now have with the power of modern medicine.
